Computer Repair Service Options

Accidental Damage Repair Has your computer been subjected to a liquid spill, a physical drop, of other accidental damage? CMI has performed numerous accidental damage repairs since opening our doors in 2003.

Typical accidental damage repairs include the following issues:

  • Liquid spill
  • Cracked Display or Glass
  • Case Dents, Cracks or Other Damage
  • Broken Connectors
  • Failed Hard Drive or Optical Drive (due to drop)

Repair Savings with CMI CMI’s approach to accidental damage repairs differs from the flat rate service sometimes offered by other providers. We focus on repairing only the malfunctioning parts of your computer, which typically results in a significant cost savings to the client.

While each accidental damage computer repair presents its own unique issues, CMI can often perform liquid spill and other accidental damage repairs for far less than other service providers.

Out of Warranty Repairs Out of warranty repairs are CMI’s specialty. Whatever the issue—computer not booting, slow operation, no power, lines on display—CMI can make repairs quickly and effectively.

Typical out of warranty repairs include the following issues:

  • Failed Hard Drive or SSD Drive
  • Failed Optical Drive
  • Failed Logic Board
  • Failed Memory Card
  • Failed Battery

Hard Drive Repair CMI performs computer hard drive replacements more than any other repair service. If your hard drive is failing or has failed, we can replace it with a larger and faster drive, or even a solid state SSD drive. We can also attempt data recovery from the failed drive, or migrate your data backup from a Time Machine or other external backup drive to a new hard or SSD drive we install into your computer.

AppleCare Warranty Repair Although we are Apple certified consultants/associates, we are NOT an Apple Warranty Service Provider. If your Mac is covered under an AppleCare Warranty, you’ll need to take it to an Apple Store.

CMI offers data recovery in the Wilmington area. Our success rate for data recovery is over 95%. CMI can attempt data recovery from any mass storage device—hard drive, SSD drive, thumb drive, compact flash, SD card, even iPhones, iPads, and iPods! We will attempt to recover the files on your drive using state-of-the-art hardware-based and software-based data recovery tools.

CMI’s data recovery process involves 3 distinct phases:

  • 1. We will check in the suspect drive and perform a detailed evaluation of its condition.
  • 2. We will contact you with the results of the drive evaluation and quote the applicable data recovery tier and pricing (tier details are described below).
  • 3. We will commence the data recovery process and keep you informed with updates as the recovery progresses.

Please note that while CMI will do its best to estimate the tier of data recovery required at the time of check in, the actual tier determination will not be made until a detailed evaluation of your drive is performed.

Satisfaction Guaranteed CMI’s data recovery service offers a satisfaction guarantee: If we are unable to recover desired files from the drive, there is only a $59.00 charge for the data recovery attempt. CMI can also replace your failed drive with a brand new hard drive or SSD drive if desired.

Tier I Data Recovery CMI’s Tier I Data Recovery Service covers drives with no discernible physical hardware failure, but the data on the drive is corrupt, missing, or otherwise inaccessible. With this service, CMI will attempt recovery of missing or deleted files from a healthy drive that is in good working order.

Tier I Data Recovery Symptoms

  • No boot to user account
  • Slow response time or function
  • Deleted or missing files
  • Reformatted volume
  • Unmountable volume

Tier 1 Data Recovery Costs CMI’s Tier I Data Recovery Service costs $199.00. If we are unable to recover desired files from the drive, there is a $59.00 charge for the data recovery attempt. Please note that what may appear to be a Tier I error may be caused by a more serious issue. For example, slow response time or function is often caused by physical block damage, which would be classed as a Tier II Data Recovery. For this reason, CMI performs a complete drive evaluation before any data recovery attempt is performed.

Tier II Data Recovery CMI’s Tier II Data Recovery Service covers drives with moderate physical or mechanical damage that requires advanced hardware-based data recovery methods. Most of the data recoveries CMI performs fall into the Tier II service level.
